Matter over Wi-Fi OTA Failure - ASSERT ERROR in OtaSupport.c (RT1060)

Hello,

I am currently developing a Matter over Wi-Fi thermostat and encountering an OTA failure issue. Interestingly, the OTA works fine when using chip-tool, but it consistently fails when triggered via the Apple Home app.

Environment:

1. MCU: RT1060
2. Flash: 32MB
3. IoT Protocol: Matter over Wi-Fi
4. Matter Version: NXP Matter 1.4.0.2.1
5. Ecosystem: Apple HomePod, iPhone 16 Pro (Apple Home App)

Error Details:
The process triggers the following assertion error:

• Error: ASSERT ERROR " pMsg != NULL "
• File: .../middleware/wireless/framework/services/OtaSupport/Source/OtaSupport.c
• Line: 1283
• Function: OTA_PostWriteToFlash

Problem Summary:

• OTA update is successful when using chip-tool.
• OTA update fails when using Apple HomePod and iPhone 16 Pro (Apple Home App).

Does anyone know why this error occurs specifically within the Apple ecosystem, or how to fix this assertion error in OtaSupport.c?

Can you please let me know your Wi-Fi chipset?

And also your SDK version？ Which example are you using?

You are using MCUXpresso IDE or MCUXpresso plugins for VSCode? Are you using RTOS or Zephyr OS?
