imx8qxpmek CAN-FD cannot found

As described in the <i.MX linux Release Notes> Rev.L4.14.78-1.0.0_GA, 01/2019 Charter 2.1 the kernel supports CAN-FD. Then  I downloaded the image based on L4.14.78 and flash the *.sdcard file into the SD card.

when the MEK board boots,it show the kernel version 4.14.78 and it is confirmed that the L4.14.78 image has been flashed successfully.

however, when I check the "ifconfig" there is no can0 or other can bus information. 

so i try to recompile the kernel using "bitbake imx-linux -c menuconfig",and see all of the options regarding CAN bus are already included, and I did not recomliled the kernel again, only to see the CAN options.

In my mind, IMX8 has its own CANFD ,so there is no need to connect a extended CAN chip using SPI, or a BB borad, and the CAN drivers can be found directly in the kernel, but it doesn't.

in a word, how can i deploy the CAN/CANFD function in my design?

I just performed what you are asking me.  unfortunately it is the same as before.

is there a missing setting for H/W board?

To check the date out I execute the command "cat /proc/version" at the end of the message.

after seeing the date I am sure writing is ok.

I solve the problem for CAN not detected.

Actually I download command named 'uuu uuu.auto' that makes me happy for CAN which is working well 

Question 1.

Why do I get to fail to get the same condition without modification? 4.14.98_2.0.0_ga

=> I Just follow the rules written in documentation in yocto release.

I've changed dtb file as you suggested "fsl-imx8qxp-mek.dtb" but I got messages continuously.

and I don't see a cursor at the end of booting. there are messages  circulated like it below

But what have you compiled exactly? To what I see your are booting a virtualized Linux. So the CAN FD is certainly in the Cortex-M4 partition.

So let restart from scratch.

Can you please try our standard image:

i.MX Software | NXP 

Download the image for the i.MX8X MEK board:

Then load it in the eMMC with a USB cable and UUU (Releases · NXPmicro/mfgtools · GitHub ), under Linux should be:

sudo ./uuu uuu.auto

Boot the board to see if it works.

Your generated image

Now you know our standard images works, rebuild your image:

bitbake -k fsl-image-validation-imx‍

in tmp/deploy/images/<your image name> use uuu once again to load it on your board thru USB.

If you want to load it in eMMC:

sudo ./uuu -b emmc_all imx-boot-imx8qxpmek-sd.bin-flash fsl-image-validation-imx-imx8qxpmek.sdcard.bz2/*

if you want to load it on a SD card:

As I understand that issue which is related to DUAL LVDS because of trying to bound dpu-crt.o and dpu-crt.1 

but I have a daughterboard to monitor named  "IMX-LVDS-HDMI"

it makes the board failed as i see

Hi,

Your DTB certainly does not contain FlexCAN, consequently you cannot see it.

Hi VIncent. aubineau.

I'm trying to test CAN-FD[0..1] but failed to communicate with.

My circumstance is CPU B'd + Base B'd, So compiled the latest Linux Version 4.14.98_2.0.0_ga.

As I see To work with CAN-FDs, Just connect CPU BD + Base B'd and follow the rule you wrote.

But I can't see any can I/F when executing "ifconfig -a", also There is no dev file on /dev

How do I hand with?

Could you help me out?

I am glad to hear about the testing of FD, Unfortunately, I didn't see any info which was related to CAN.

also, I run

I assembled like this below

CPU +BASEBOARD.

To debug I attached it. I hope that it's one of the clues to solve issue.

IS THERE AN OPTION TO BE MODIFIED FOR THE BOARD OR SOMETHING?
