imx8mp evk dual camera support check

Hello NXP Community,

May i know whether imx8mp lpddr4 evk [with yocto, BSP version LF6.6.3_1.0.0] supports two camera sensors connected to two available different MIPI CSI interfaces [in any possibility, like - if not two cameras at a time, can we use one camera at a time while turning off resources to the other during runtime or one interface with two cameras etc...]. Also please let me know which camera supports to imx8mp lpddr4 evk in dual.

From this community I got to know there is a limitation in HW that these two MIPI CSI share same power down and reset pin so it cannot support Dual ISI[is this only for ov5640, if yes then let me know which camera supports dual ISI], [correct me if my understanding is wrong]

Also i have seen some post that OV5640 is not supported via ISP porting. Regarding this also please let me know which camera is supported via ISP to imx8mp lpddr4 evk. Also please confirm dual camera ISP is supported or not.

Based on this we need to plan, So please let me know the above details.

Thanks in Advance.

current bsp can support dual camera with dual mipi csi in the same time, you can find the different dts file to support them, because current bsp only supports ov5630 via ISI, so if you need dual ov5640 support, current EVK board couldn't support this, you need do the HW rework to support them, change the other camera power down and reset pins, for dual ISP, or ISI+ISP, current bsp can support them already, current evk board can support ov5640, ov2775, basler, os08a20

Hello @joanxie

Thanks for reply,

Need some clarification regarding below

So as i understood with current bsp on imx8mp lpddr4 evk

1) --->dual ov5640 via isi not possible without some HW rework,
2)--->Also dual ov5640 via isp is possible with some driver addition or modification. [your comment : current bsp doesn't support ov5640 via ISP, more work you need to do, you need add the ov5640 mipi driver in the vvcam and isp-imx, and build the ov5640 driver module for isp]?
3)---> dual ov5630 via isi is supported?
4)--->ov5640, ov2775, basler, os08a20 are supported but some of them may not support dual functionality[like dual ov5640 via isi]?

Am i correct with above understanding, can you please confirm

Thanks in Advance

1) yes
2) yes
3)---> dual ov5630 via isi is supported?

>ov5630? is it your typo? if you mean ov5640, you already answered by yourself in the first question, if you mean ov5630, I don't hear this and current bsp doesn't support it as default

4)--->ov5640, ov2775, basler, os08a20 are supported but some of them may not support dual functionality[like dual ov5640 via isi]?

>do you need the same two camera connect to the different mipi csi? what's your request indeed?

Hello @joanxie ,

for 3) ----> since you mentioned in first reply["current bsp can support dual camera with dual mipi csi in the same time, you can find the different dts file to support them, because current bsp only supports ov5630 via ISI, so if you need dual ov5640 support, current EVK board couldn't support this, you need do the HW rework to support them, change the other camera power down and reset pins, for dual ISP, or ISI+ISP, current bsp can support them already, current evk board can support ov5640, ov2775, basler, os08a20 "]

for 4) ---> As of now we don't have a requirement for specific camera sensor, we are checking for camera which is supported by im8mp lpddr4 evk in dual way[two cameras to two MIPI CSI].

If you specify some camera sensors which supports imx8mp lpddr4 evk via ISP and requires minimal driver modification and also can be connected to two MIPI CSI[such that two camera output at a time], then we will plan our work with that camera sensors.

Thanks in Advance.

3) sorry for my typo I always mean ov5640

4) I already listed the camera before, for current bsp, which supports ov2775, basler, os08a20 via ISP as default, if you use these, you don't need change the driver anymore
