Hi
I currently have our iMX7 board booting from either SD card or EMMC. The option is configured using the GPIO pins.
I would like to be able to boot from USB using a USB flash disk or USB to SATA enclosure with an SSD drive. Is it possible to configure the boot GPIO pins to allow direct boot from USB or do I have to have uBoot on the either SD card / EMMC to boot linux from USB drive?
Thanks in advance
Hi
I read the manual as sent prior to sending the question. It included USB boot options listed as follows:
"- USB (recovery mode) and plug detect (USB host stack not required in ROM, can bestored in an external boot device, e.g. serial flash)
- USB Solid-State Drive (via plug-in mode)"
I understood this as being able to boot from USB flash disk but per your response, it is not the case. Can you please help me understand what these two boot options actually mean?
Thanks in advance

please provide document where you find that.

Hi Duracell
unfortunately boot from USB using a USB flash disk is not supported.
So it is necessary to have uBoot. Supported boot devices are described in
Boot Chapter of i.MX 7Dual Applications Processor Reference Manual
