iMX53 LTIB U-boot

Hello all,

We have i.MX535 on our board and I am trying to run a compiled version of u-boot using a SD card but it does not boot all the time i.e. at power up

it boots sometimes but not always. But if I use the pre-built u-boot image (u-boot 2009.08-00358-g57b8640 Sep 26, 2011) , it boots at every power up.

I have extracted the u-boot using LTIB for i.MX53 LOCO and generated u-boot.bin.

Has anyone seen this kind of problem, please help.

Thanks for your reply, I synced myself with 2013.01 from git.denx.de and compile the new version but it does not work completely i.e. it shows the following and hangs:

U-Boot 2013.01-dirty (Jan 21 2013 - 13:32:20)

Board: MX53 LOCO

I2C:   ready

U-Boot 2013.01-dirty (Jan 21 2013 - 13:32:20)

Any idea where it might be halting or crashing?

It is hard to say without knowing your hardware specifics. Try to identify the differences between your board and mx53loco, like PMIC, DDR3 initialization, I2C ports, etc

Yes, I would need to verify few things.

But when I ran an older version of U-boot (for i.MX53 loco), it seems to initialize few things and gave me u-boot prompt, so I could display/modify memory stuff . Do you think new 2013.001 u-boot is quite different from older versions (u-boot 2009.08-00358-g57b8640 Sep 26)?

Is iMX53 loco u-boot good starting point or would you recommend some other version of u-boot (more simplified or basic)?

Try using the latest U-boot version from git.freescale.com, or 2013.01 from git.denx.de.
