i.MX6 solox IDE and software development tools

I'm new to the i.MX6 world, and saw that on the getting started page that I could use either ARM DS-5 or Iar Embedded Workbench to build apps for the board. However, both are commercial.

Are there any other IDEs that can be used ? preferably free.

And can Java be used with Yocto Project ?
