i.MX 8M Plus EVK

HI,

Am usingi.MX 8M Plus EVK and purchased DTSTREAM-ST(DSTRMST-KT-0197A) connecting to EVK.Arm developer studio using for Debug,

it showing Failed to coonect any device on the target, Check that the target is connectly connected to the debug probe and powered on.

Its EVK board only DT Stream 20Pin and we stopped booting from eMMC to uboot usinf Debug port.

DT Tream target device also detected

Please tell us what we are missing in procedure.

Hi Rita,

Yes As per your suggestion we did boot mode into serial download.

Please guide us for harware connection with Arm development studio no need of platform configuration creation.

In arm development stuido only we are creating c/c++ project and select debugg with A53-0 and DT Stream and forwarded.

Please guide us DT Stream Compatible with I.MX8MP and Also look With and without JTAG Signals below

We do not have lisence for this tool, i have test on my colleague's PC with it, it is old,  it spport the i.MX8MM EVK i test it , it works well, and test today for the i.MX8Mp, it is also work well.

We have test on the i.MX8MP EVK board, it also display this error at first.

Here we need to choose "add a new platform", you add 8mp, then it will OK.

1. Which JTAG debugger are you using to connect ?

2. Did you connect the board  (I.MX8MPLUS )Cortex A53_0 after the u-boot ? or else without u-boot?

I connect the board. Board have default images I download before, I think it is not important, as the board in device mode(download mode).

Can you please set the boot mode into Serial Download Mode ,after that try to connect the board once through JTAG.

Please share the pictures what you are getting after setting into Serial Download mode and try to connect the board (I.MX8MPlUS) using JTAG.

2.Does it means Before U-Boot ?If yes ,are you able to connect the board through JTAG without booting from emmc ?

Hi,

I.MX8MP EVK JTAG Detection issue.

Default image eMMC booted stopped at Uboot using putty.

After uboot Read following data received in Putty Terminal,

0x470[21] SJC_DISABLE is = 0x1

0x470[23:22] JTAG_SMODE[1:0][1:0] = 0x11

In data sheet

JTAG_SMODE[1:0] = 0x11 means [11 - No debug mode]

From these how to get back in to Debug JTAG mode????

Hi Rita,

Let me know how to check JTAG Enable or Disable w.r.t I.MX8MP(EVK) Detetcion.

Any Register available for checking (Default image available)after uboot in EVK.

We have Custom board with i.MX8MP no default image is loaded.

Is it possible cutom board without any default image JTAG Access is possible????

Am not Found combination with DTsream -ST and I.MX8MP and arm development studio

Sorry for we do not have the experience using DTSTREAM-ST, here is the step you can try and check, I search it in the network :

1. Verify Hardware Setup

2. Update DSTREAM-ST Firmware

Arm DS automatically checks for firmware updates when connecting to DSTREAM-ST.

If prompted, allow the firmware update.

You can also manually update via the Debug Hardware Firmware Installer in Arm DS.

3. Adjust JTAG Timeout Settings

4. Check Debug Configuration in Arm DS

5. Initialization Script

6. Close Conflicting Applications

7. Use Latest Arm DS Version

Or you can tell us why you need do this test, what problem you met.

We testing in EVK TDO is giving 0.5v Continous(Working on 1.8V)

Any procedure to test after uboot registers like secure boot,boot configurations.

With same setup I.MX6 DUAL board is working fine without any change.

Please guide us EVK only having set of problem during JTAG Detection???

Hi @kirankumar007 ,

1\ EVK TDO is giving 0.5v Continous means JTAG chain is broken or misconfigured.

2\Compare with i.MX6 Working Setup

• i.MX6 may not enforce secure boot or restrict JTAG access by default.
• i.MX 8M Plus has more aggressive security defaults and CoreSight topology.

3\Recommended Debug Procedure

Power off EVK, connect DSTREAM-ST with correct voltage reference.

Set boot switches to serial downloader or minimal U-Boot.

Power on EVK, verify TDO voltage rises to ~1.8V.

In Arm DS:

Disable JTAG timeouts.

Set SCC_TIMEOUT=10000000 in environment.

Use correct .rcf or .sdf file for i.MX 8M Plus.

Try connecting using CoreSight Access Tool or Arm DS Debug Configurator.

1. On the i.MX8M Plus EVK, LPDDR4 memory is used. However, on our custom board, we are using DDR4 memory (Part No: MT40A1G16RC-062EIT:B).

2. we had build U-Boot in standalone environment by seeing I.MX porting guide,and followed the below procedure mentioned.

3. whenever we tried to boot from fspi ,we are facing the below mention error.

4. we also download the ddr_timing.c from DDR TOOL.

5. While generating images for the i.MX8M Plus LPDDR4 EVK using the Yocto BSP, we are able to successfully generate SD card, F SPI, and boot binary images.
However, when we try to generate images for the i.MX8M Plus DDR4 configuration, it fails to generate the F SPI images and shows an error indicating that only SD and NAND are supported.

can you please guide us regarding this DDR4.
