Hello all,

I'm trying to build i.MX6 fsl-image-qt5 image and Yocto always fail during the fetch step.

Git repository seems to be unreachable.

The yocto output :

Is there any other git repository available?

I am facing the same problem since days now. This blocks from building our software.

When I try to clone from git.freescale.com I receive error "Connection reset by peer".

git clone git://git.freescale.com/imx/linux-2.6-imx.git;branch=imx_4.1.15_1.0.0_ga

Internet Connection is of course ok.
Even when I try to access git.freescale.com by browser, it is rediculous slow and often fails when trying to browse into any repo or branch.

Please assist as this is show stopper for us.

Thanks for yoru help.

Same thing here.

Cannot clone the linux-imx for days now, resulting in failure to build yocto recipes..

During the day Git come back again. But it is still annoying and worrying, that it fails again and again over over such a long period.

Yesterday I was able to start the git clone. It started to count the objects. Until about 4,200,000 objects everything seems fine but then it slowed down to about 1 object per second and about 10 minutes later I got the following error message:

$ git -c core.fsyncobjectfiles=0 clone --bare --mirror git://git.freescale.com/imx/linux-imx.git /cygdrive/c/Users/ctrommel/Git/linux-imx
Cloning into bare repository '/cygdrive/c/Users/ctrommel/Git/linux-imx'...
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly
fatal: early EOF
fatal: index-pack failed

So it looks that the clone slowed down significantly and then timed out.

I observed the same behavior for a git clone done at Fedora 23 (git version 2.5.5) and at Cygwin at Windows 10 (git version 2.14.1). Because 2 (completely) different platforms show the same behavior it looks like that this is server problem.

This blocks my study of the i.MX.6 BSP, so I am looking for another way to download the git2_git.freescale.com.imx.linux-imx.git.tar.gz required by i.MX.6 BSP Yocto.

Today I experienced the same problem.

Doing a git clone gave the following result:

bash> git clone git://git.freescale.com/imx/linux-imx.git;protocol=git;branch=imx_4.1.15_2.0.0_ga
Cloning into 'linux-imx'...
fatal: read error: Connection reset by peer

Hi,

There are several causes for the index-pack error, from memory resources to network problems.

I found that specifically for the following error in a Ubuntu 16.04 system:

error: inflate: data stream error (invalid distance too far back)

fatal: pack has bad object at offset 28071701: inflate returned -3

fatal: index-pack failed

The error was caused when upgrading from 16.04.0 to 16.04.x. As part of that upgrade the Linux kernel is held back and is not updated (kept at 4.4 base). From then onwards, git clones of any Linux kernel repository which contains big packed objects failed with that error.

Forcing the kernel to update to the new hardware enablement kernel (4.10 based) fixed it for me:

sudo apt install –install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-16.04

I have also been experiencing problems trying to clone the kernel repository:

WARNING: linux-imx-4.1.15-r0 do_fetch: Failed to fetch URL git://git.freescale.com/imx/linux-imx.git;protocol=git;branch=imx_4.1.15_2.0.0_ga, attempting MIRRORS if available

error: inflate: data stream error (invalid distance too far back)
fatal: pack has bad object at offset 28071701: inflate returned -3
fatal: index-pack failed

I have tried several times (10?) today, but I have scripted it to keep trying.

Finally I was able to clone it. Not sure if it was a problem with my local connection, or with the server.

I'm glad you were able to clone it! Apparently there has been some intermittent issues with the server.

Hello Surendra Dhobale,

What BSP are you using? Would you share the commands you’re using and on what documentation did you find them? I don’t recognize the inux-imx-4.1.15-ro tag.
