Hello All,
I am starting to read about Yocto and I created an Ubuntu VM with 50GB of disk space. I am realizing now I probably should have made it 60GB since Ubuntu itself takes up space.
I am just wondering what does Yocto and bitbake do that requires so much memory? We are building an image for an IMX6 (I am using the quick start poky tutorial). If I recall correctly a dev board does not have 50GB of space for an embedded Linux image.
I understand this is how it has to be, but can anyone point me to some documentation on the memory requirements for Yocto and bitbake?
Hello MichaelBMiner,
In fact you need at least 200GB on ubunto to start building yocto.

Why does it need 200GB of free space? Is there any way to reduce this?
Hi,
It has to be with the whole package that yocto need for deploying, you can at least reduce to 150GB no more.
