Dears,

I've installed Ubuntu LXDE & MATE 16.04 per https://community.nxp.com/docs/DOC-330147 instructions onto i.MX6QP.

I have those Ubuntu images 16.04 LTS Xenial from

I got them that booting on NXP i.MX6QP device on Sabre AI board and can start GUI with "stratx" but still some issues I wan to get that working properly:

Here is "boot log":

Hi Erik,

The issue 3 is result of issue 2. The problem of issue 2 should be in the fstab. Try to change in file /etc/fstab device /dev/mmcblk0p1 to /dev/sda1. It can be slightly different, it depend on what you will find in the /etc/fstab.

The issue 4 is common log message, but it is not important and you can ignore it.

For the issue 1. You can start with repairing issue 2 and if the problem will continue send me log from command "systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service".

Radim.

Hi Erik,

return back in the /etc/fstab device /dev/mmcblk2p1 and reboot. Look if the folder /boot is empty. If it is empty run command 'mount -a' and look there again. If there will be some files, the fstab is working, but is there some other problem at boot. You can also try to change the name /dev/mmcblk2p1 by the disk UUID (for example UUID=DA05-A20E). The UUID you can find from command 'blkid'.

As you said '/boot' is empty and after 'mount -a' - there is 'imx6qp-sabreauto.dtb  zImage'.

Hi Erik,

there is problem in configuration of kernel. If you want to fix this issue, than recompile the kernel and in the menuconfig check the option "File system ---> Overlay filesystem support".

Hi Radim,

I run it as you suggested:

  • recompile the kernel and in the menuconfig check the option "File system ---> Overlay filesystem support".
  • after I have still in emergency mode
  • modify /etc/fstab
    proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
    /dev/mmcblk2p2 / ext4 defaults,noatime 0 1
    #/dev/mmcblk2p1 /boot/ vfat defaults 0 2
  • reboot & after installtion process of Ubuntu strated

Hi Erik,

Can you please send me output of "systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service". Do you have connected some touchscreen or fm device to the board?

I don't have touchscreen connected just regular HDMI LCD monitor. What you mean "fm" device?

I mean some FM radio, or FM transceiver, because this error:

[ 2.199759] imx-tuner-si476x sound-fm: failed to find FM platform device

just saying, that the kernel did not find any FM device.

This error is the same as the one above, but is about touchsreen device:

[ 0.635725] egalax_ts 1-0004: Failed to read firmware version

Please try to run this binary "/lib/systemd/systemd-modules-load" and send me the output. Send me also output from command "journalctl _PID=193" (you can find the PID in the command "systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service")

Radim.

Hi Erik,

in the file "/etc/modules-load.d/cups-filters.conf " comment out lines with lp, ppdev, parport_pc. Can you send me content of yours folders "/etc/modules-load.d/", "/run/modules-load.d/" and "/usr/lib/modules-load.d/"?

Hi Erik,

you have to find in this files lines with snd_bcm2835, bcm2708_rng and comment out them. Also look in the file /etc/modules.

Yes, I did it as suggested but still within "emergency mode"

Hi Erik,

You can use workaround, that you can delete (or comment out) the line in the /etc/stab with the /dev/mmcblk2p1. At least you will not be in the emergency mode and the only think, that you will lost is possibility to edit uboot from the linux (you can always mount it manualy). I was able to reproduce this issue, so I will try to find the problem.

Hi Erik,

you can disable this module by:

$ sudo systemctl disable ureadahead.service
$ sudo systemctl mask ureadahead.service

This module shouldn't be even install, because it is unnecessary when is there systemd.
