Running Ubuntu on i.MX6 SDP

Hello!

I'm looking for a general procedure for running Ubuntu and OpenOffice on i.MX6 SDP.

I suppose that they can be added and built as a package or layer with Yocto, since Ubuntu looks like just a set of packages with their dependencies. Or is it much more complicated?

I know there is a pre-built image in download section. But it is built with older kernel and only suitable for SDP (and not suitable for custom board), so I think it is only for demo purposes. Is it correct?

Looking for a short guidance to understand what is possible and how complicated is it. Thank you!

Dmitry, good day !

   Generally it is possible to configure i.MX6 board for I-net access and just run

$ sudo apt-get install ....

I did not try Open Office, but some other packages can be installed in such a way.

post this on meta-fsl-arm mailing list, so that someone familiar with Yocto/OpenOffice

could try to assist you.

As for pre-built image in download section - yes it is built for

Freescale reference boards only and there is new yocto 3.10.17 image
