IMXRT1172 USB Problem

Hi NXP Team,

We have a IMXRT1172 custom board. We have total 100 custom boards. 70 pcs board works smoothly. But 30 pcs board have some problems. When we plug USB cable and start MCU Boot Utility tool USB can not recognized.(We can not see vendor ID and Product ID). We need USB connection for our products. Because we use USB connection to repair flash. We can not repair flash it with JTAG connection. We checked at the powers, power sequence on the problematic cards. There is no problem for power and power sequence. Also I have another idea, products without problems, It consumes 110 mA of power. When we make external hardware reset it consumes 55mA. But products with problems consumes 54 mA continuously. Maybe this is a reset problem. We checked our reset pins. By the way there is no hardware difference between working and non-working cards.

Thanks.

Hi @karaca,

Are you using the internal DCDC converter to supply the power domains of the RT1172, or are you using external supplies? Where and how are you measuring the current consumptions? Are you not able to debug the boards with the current design you have? What about using UART for SDP instead of USB? Have you seen a specific link with the affected MCUs? Perhaps they are from the same batch? Or maybe a pattern like the faulty boards were the first 30 boards to be assembled, or last 30?

This issue could be due to a number of things, perhaps even a combination of smaller issues. We would require further information in order to better pinpoint the problem, as it currently still has many broad possibilities. Any more information, no matter how small, about the corrupt boards would be very helpful.

BR,
Edwin.
