Hi,

We are working on i.MX8 evalution kit where we need to work with XEN hypervisor. We tried from our available information via vendor too. Can you kindly confirm wheather i.MX will support XEX hypervisor or not ?

Hello Ankur,

Right now XEN hasn't been integrated into Yocto yet.  As for support board, 8QM_MEK board will definitely be supported.  DornerWork's XEN based on i.MX8 is their commercial product.

Hi,

I am working on imx8mqevk. Does xen hypervisor support this target also? If not can you suggest any alternate opensource hypervisor which could load multiple images(in individual core or via virtualization).

What's your usecase? Could jailhouse hypervisor fit your case? NXP released jailhouse hypervisor support for i.MX8MQ.

Thanks!

Found that Xen doesn't support imx8mq. Working with jailhouse hypervisor. I am trying to load fsl image in non-root cell of jailhouse, didn't get much reference on the same. If you can share something on that will be helpful.

So this is the step with 5.4.24_2.1.0 release. After "run jh_mmcboot" into linux bash follow the steps below:

Dual Linux

  1. The 2nd linux only have minimal features, including emmc storage and one uart for console and virtual ivshmem-net.
  2. export PATH=$PATH:/usr/share/jailhouse/tools/
  3. i.MX8MQ
    1. jailhouse cell linux /usr/share/jailhouse/cells/imx8mq-linux-demo.cell /run/media/mmcblk1p1/Image -d /run/media/mmcblk1p1/imx8mq-evk-inmate.dtb -c "clk_ignore_unused console=ttymxc1,115200 earlycon=ec_imx6q,0x30860000,1115200 root=/dev/mmcblk2p2 rootwait rw"

Hi,

Thanks for response!

I could create & load linux cell successfully, its not full image what minimal features it will carry?. Verified the same with "jailhouse cell list" command. Further i want to run some binaries in that but i didn't get where it maintain separate rootfs? what is the role of /dev/mmcblk2p2?

I want to run some dedicated task in this linux cell on dedicated CPU. Looking forward for your response.

I could load NXP 5.4.24 bsp image as primary & secondary linux (in non root cell) in imx8mq evk target. I am trying to do the same in a custom freescale image bsp 5.4.46. I could successfully add & build jailhouse 0.12 in the image, but the image boot up failed if i choose "run jh_mmcboot" in u-boot. Image boots up fine if go normally without jh_mmcboot.
