IMX6 HDCP

Hi,

In my startup company, I am conducting a feasibility study for a device which can play HDCP protected contents. I have googled a bit and found out that freescale would be a wise solution since the HDCP keys can be embedded in chip itself. That's great. However, it brings out some extra questions.

1. Does this mean that I (or my company) have no liability whatsoever for HDCP?

2. This question is a bit related to the first one but, who is going to order HDCP keys? Does freescale take over all the procedures and orders them for me? As fa as I know, there is a company specific info inside the HDCP key. How is this going to work is freescale would do it for me?

HDCP-enabled parts can be provided to customers who are a licensee of

HDCP technology (current list of licensees available here:

http://www.digital-cp.com/about_dcp/list

If the customer sells them to a company that requires HDCP-enabled parts

(for example, their end product requires playback of HDCP protected content)

then both the company and the customer (SBC manufacturer) will need to

have a HDCP license. Please contact your local Freescale FAE/representative

for more information on HDCP.

Thanks for your reply.

We are not yet licensee of HDCP technology but we will.

Could you please answer my questions listed in my first email as if we are licensee of HDCP technology?

Hi rob

1. seems this is legal question, suggest to apply to local

legal department of your company. Seems that may depend on local legal

laws.

2. in general FSL can help with keys,  this can be discussed with local FAE.
