How to customize kernel for IMX6UL?

I'm trying to customize Linux Kernel for a Variscite DART 6UL  (my aim is to use a 7" TFT display and I'd like to activate hsync and vsync). Following a tutorial written by Variscite to customize a display, I modified a .dtsi file, but at the end of the Kernel compilation procedure, I didn't find a solution to my problem.

Someone can help me?

specific isues with third party releases are supported by vendors of these software.
