How to build a Linux kernel for the i.MX 8QuadXPlus MEK CPU Board?

I have an iMX8 evaluation board. When I boot it up, the debug port just shows "hello world"

The quick start guide that came with the board has the following title: Quick Start Guide; Multisensory Enablement Kit; i.MX 8QuadXPlus MEK CPU Board. The back of the manual shows www.nxp.com/iMX8QXPMEK as the site to go to for information. Unfortunately, this lead me to "Page not found".

I have a Linux distribution I have downloaded, which I am told was designed specifically for this board. Unfortunately, it does not tell me how to build or load it, or even what build tools to use.

Can anyone tell me how to build and install the Linux kernel for this board, or where the proper documentation is?
