Dear Sir,
My board does not use emmc, as only use sdcard.
But when boot form SD card without emmc the message is hand on -> Freeing init memory : 220K
Could you tell me how to fix this issue.

Hi Sean,
I encountered similar issue before. You may want to check those items below:
1. SD card not recognized
mmc0: Unknown controller version (3). You may experience problems.
mmc0: SDHCI controller on platform [sdhci-esdhc-imx.3] using ADMA
mmc1: Unknown controller version (3). You may experience problems.
mmc1: SDHCI controller on platform [sdhci-esdhc-imx.2] using ADMA
mmc2: Unknown controller version (3). You may experience problems.
mmc2: SDHCI controller on platform [sdhci-esdhc-imx.1] using ADMA
There should be something like this "mmc0/1: SD xxGB mmcblk0/1" to point out where the SD card is.
2. SD mounting in init.freescale.rc (hack ramdisk.img)
Based on the kernel messages above, you should change the mount point in init.freescale.rc
ex: /system /dev/mmcblk0p5 --> /dev/mmcblk1p5
3. If you compile your own kernel, make sure your machine name has "freescale" to load init.freescale.rc
I saw this problem on porting our own board which resulted in not loading init.freescale.rc and stuck at "Freeing init memory" forever.
I am having the same issue while attempting to boot the L3.0.35_1.1.0_oneiric Linux kernel from Freescale. I am using a custom processor board developed by our company. I have been able to build and boot a custom Linux kernel using LTIB. I would now like to boot this version of Ubuntu with a GUI.
I stop right before the Linux prompt at "Freeing init memory: 204K". I do not have a problem with the mmc since I get the appropriate messages. I cannot find a file called init.freescale.rc within this Linux file system. Is this something I need to add? Below is the bottom part of my boot messages for your reference:

I think Linux does not use the configuration file init.freescale.rc (you are installing Ubuntu, not Android). Make sure the kernel command parameter 'root' has the right value, which as I can see it must be root=/dev/mmcblk0p1. Hope it helps.

Sean,
Could you please post your "u-boot parameters"? That would be very helpful.
Just type:

Hello,
If you are booting android using SD card as boot media, Please set below u-boot parameters.
setenv bootcmd booti mmc2
setenv bootargs console=ttymxc0,115200 androidboot.console=ttymxc0 vmalloc=400M init=/init video=mxcfb0:dev=hdmi,1920x1080M@60 video=mxcfb1:off video=mxcfb2:off fbmem=28M
saveenv

Hi Hemal,
Thank's for your responded.
I tried your suggestion uboot cmd. but it's not work.
Dear All,
It is very sorry, I think my describe is not clear.
Now:
I'm not use the EMMC on my board.
I'm only use SD card to boot and operating Android system.
I tried to use SD card boot on Sabresd_6Q EVK is OK(EVK has emmc),
But use the same SD card to boot my board is not OK(my board has not emmc),
the message is stop on the "Freeing init memory: 220K".
Is not boot process is always to mount EMMC?
Where need to modify of code for disable EMMC?
Sean
Sean,
How different is your board from the Sabre SDP? Any hardware differences have to be taken into account, and will require changes to the BSP.
That said, on the Sabre SDP, Android can boot from eMMC (mmc3) or any of the two SD cards (mmc2=SD slot next to HDMI; mmc1=SD slot on opposite site of HDMI). You can point to any of the 3 just by changing the u-boot arguments.
Regards,
Rod.
what is the issue? is the booting process reach the login prompt? Regarding the message 'Freeing init...', this is neither an error nor a warning, it is indicating that some space (more or less a quarter of a megabyte) was released by the kernel, and most of the times it is the last message before the login prompt.
