HW timers in Linux ?

I checked in docs and code, but not too sure:

Is kernel support HW timers ?

Is it that hrtimer in kernel (or  timer_create in userspace) use HW timers ?

Yes, of course, the kernel timer relies on some hardware timer.

Any software-created timer relies on the system timer, that, in turns, relies on the hardware timer.
