Ethernet Connectivity Issue After Switching Clock Source on i.MX6Q

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an Ethernet connectivity problem on my i.MX6Q based board after changing the reference clock source. I'm using the LAN8720A PHY with RGMII.

Initially, I had MX6QDL_PAD_GPIO_16__ENET_REF_CLK defined in my device tree to provide the reference clock. However, I wanted to use the MX6QDL_PAD_RGMII_TX_CTL__ENET_REF_CLK pin instead, so I removed the MX6QDL_PAD_GPIO_16__ENET_REF_CLK entry and kept only MX6QDL_PAD_RGMII_TX_CTL__ENET_REF_CLK with the value 0x0b0a8.

After making this change, I'm no longer able to get an IP address. The Ethernet interface seems to be down. I've verified that the PHY address is correct in my driver.

Has anyone else encountered this issue when switching the Ethernet clock source on the i.MX6Q? Are there any specific considerations or configurations required when using the MX6QDL_PAD_RGMII_TX_CTL pin for the reference clock?

Hello @Jay_ganatra \

I hope you are doing very well.

Could you please share your device tree and schematics related to the PHY?

Best regards,

Salas.
