EMMC flash drive error message

Hi,

I have imx6ul and Linux 4.15

When I call tar command to unzip a large file (15MB zipped size, about 50MB unzipped size),

 I got the following error:

EXT4-fs (mmcblk1p1): last error at time 4297: ext4_mb_generate_buddy:757

Is this a serious problem? how to resolve it?

Hi David,

I haven´t seen a similar issue before.

If you do the same from a different memory (E.g. USB) do you see the same? You may try also with different SD card.

Hi Carlos,

I did a test. Copying large files into emmc flash causes this error message.

Copying the same file into internal NAND flash is ok.

Copying the same file into a USB stick is ok, too.

Is that indicating emmc driver or hardware may have some issues?

I would think the problem is the SD card. Did you try with different SD cards?

It was the incorrect timing configuration in the device tree file for the emmc.
