DVD drive doesn't work with IMX53QSB-R

Hi all,

I'm trying to get a generic SATA DVD burner drive working with a MX53-START-R, running the out-of-the-box Ubuntu Lucid image with a modified ver. 2.6.35 kernel, compiled using LTIB ver. 9.1.1, rev. 1.445.6.1 using default settings except for the target board selection (MX53_loco). Kernel is reconfigured to enable ISO9660 + extensions, UDF and SCSI CDROM support + vendor specific extensions.

The CD/DVD drive icon shows up in File Browser and the eject command works like expected, but the drive doesn't spin up when I put a disc in it. Sounds like I'm missing something too obvious here..! SATA HDDs work just fine. Some tests below:

lucid@lucid-desktop:~$ dmesg | grep -E '(CD|DVD|dvd)'
ata1.00: ATAPI: TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-222BB, SB00, max UDMA/100
scsi 0:0:0:0: CD-ROM            TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-222BB  SB00 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 48x/48x writer dvd-ram cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20
sr 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0

lucid@lucid-desktop:~$ sudo mount -t iso9660 /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom
mount: no medium found on /dev/sr0

lucid@lucid-desktop:~$ sudo mount -t udf /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom
mount: no medium found on /dev/sr0

lucid@lucid-desktop:~$ sudo mount -t auto /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom
mount: /dev/sr0: unknown device

Any ideas? I've tried CD-ROMs, audio CDs, DVD-Rs, DVD-ROMs... nothing works.

Thanks,
Heikki

Whoops! Never mind, I managed to get another drive for testing, and looks like the first one is defective (brand new, though). Works like a dream now.
