Hi,
This is Liam working for WPG(disty in Korea) as FAE and our customer has several questions about codec. Could you help to get feedback?
Q1) As decoder for playback, all of format below support for?
[Liam] I already reviewd "IMX_LINUX_RELEASE_NOTES" doc but there was no comment about WAV and FLAC codec.
- MP3 : 32kHz / 44.1kHz / 48kHz
- WMA : 32kHz / 44.1kHz / 48kHz
- WAV : 32kHz / 44.1kHz / 48kHz / 88.2kHz / 96kHz / 176.4kHz / 192kHz
- FLAC : 32kHz / 44.1kHz / 48kHz / 88.2kHz / 96kHz / 176.4kHz / 192kHz
Q2) As encoder for audio recording, does it support for following formats?
[Liam] There is no comment about audio record in the doc. Does it support?
- MP3 : 128kbps / 192kbps
Q3-1) As I know, there is no need to aggrement with NXP for using MP3 decoder/encoder. Right?
Q3-2) But I know it requires aggrement with Microsoft for using WMA decoder? Right?
Thanks,
Liam

Hi Bio_TICFSL,
Thanks for your quick feedback.
Customer still wants to know more detail information and document about your feedback.
1) Linux 5.15.72 supports WAC and FLAC codecs for more information see the reference manual.
[Liam] The latest BSP version from NXP is kernel 5.15.71_2.2.0(not 5.15.72), which is released Dec. 2022 and I can't find out audio codec spec. information in the reference manual(v5.15.71). Instead, I can see the audio codec spec. over table 21 of "i.MX Linux Release Note". However, still I am not sure about Q1) since no information in both the release note and reference manual. About your feedabck, let me ask again.
A. How soon the v5.15.72 would be released about?
B. Could you provide the audio codec spec. about your feedback?
2) Yes, it support mp3 just at 128Kbps
[Liam] Same as above, I can't find out the information about your feedback.
Always thanks,
Liam
