Changing I2C speed from userspace

We are working on IMX8MMini EVK. Is there any method for changing I2C speed from user-space ? We have a requirement like changing I2C speed at run-time.

In older version of kernel is it possible to change IMX_I2C_BIT_RATE to change I2C speed (using module arguments) from userspace. But in newer version to change I2C speed we can change it from device tree.
