Best environment for new application

Hi

for IMX.6 processor and for a beginner, which is the best environment to develop new application?

I'm talking about ... development tools, debug, toolchain, bsp ...

I saw the IMXLINUX (I presume from NXP/Frescale) and YOCTO projects ...

I'm a little confused ...

I'm having some problem regarding toolchain for yocto application.

I have the EVK correctly configured with the BSP coming together with the hardware

How can I build a simple application like Hello world?
