Adding patches to build uImage (AVB)

Hi I want to build a uImage for AVB. I have found the link with the required patches needed to build the uImage. But how and where should I add these patches for building the image? Should I add it in the local.conf file and if yes, how do I add it?

   There are many bbappend files available. I am building an fsl-image-gui for imx6dl sabre auto board. At exactly which bbappend file should I add the patch files?
