AW-CM276NF Wifi/Bluetooth Module becoming obsolete

We have produced a few boards using the iMX8mp and the AW-CM276NF over PICe and serial interfaces.

We understand the AW-CM276NF module is becoming obsolete and is now difficult to get hold of for production.

Can anyone recommend a replacement module that will work over PCIe/serial and has NXP Linux/Yocto support ?

Can you tell me where you obtained the information that the AW-CM276NF module is obsolete?

Neither AzureWave nor NXP currently show any obsolescence notice for the AW-CM276NF or the W8997 chipset.

One more question: are you aware that the AW-CM276NF specifications were changed in later revisions?

For the PCIe + UART configuration, the module now requires the CON[2:0] setting = 011. Earlier revisions supported up to eight interface combinations.

The newer modules support only the following configurations:

• SDIO (WLAN) + UART (Bluetooth)
• PCIe (WLAN) + UART (Bluetooth)

For the PCIe + UART mode, the configuration must be set to CON[2:0] = 011.

We got the information from AzureWave after a customer of ours said the module was becoming obsolete:

Dear Martin,

Last time buy for AW-CM276NF will be 28th Feb 2026.

For alternative, we are recommended AW-XM729 which is pin out compatible with AW-CM276NF.

Note although the AW-XM729 is pin function compatible, it is not quite footprint compatible.

On the CON settings, yes we have been using that setting for the two boards in question that have been in production for about 3 years.

The PCIe chipsets with the latest public SW are:

88W8997

88W9098

AW693

I would recommend you take a look at AW693. If you are open to switch to SDIO, I recommend IW612.
