I would like to check if the inputs on the MC33814 can be connected directly to the outputs from a 3.3v MCU without using a level shifter? We are using a 5V buffer at the moment because we do not want to risk it.

Hi,

I’m afraid that it is not possible to connect the inputs on the MC33814 can be connected directly to the outputs from a 3.3v MCU without using a level shifter, the reason is that the Digital interface input of the MC33814 is dependent from VCC voltage and VCC voltage should be 5V. Using a level shifter is the best solution for this case.
