Hi all,

Does AN12976 indicate that I can obtain a derivative certification using NXP's WTA source certification?

Or does AN12976 only give examples of derivative certification? (i.e. do I also have to certify the source product myself?)

I checked the Wi-Fi Alliance webpage but could not find out if I could obtain a derivative certification for me using a different company's source certification. Is it possible?

Above all, in AN 12976, 3.1 Overview, it is written "Any changes in the new product MUST NOT affect the wireless functionality.".

AN12976 covers AW-CM358MA and LBWA0ZZ2DS; AW-CM358MA requires an external antenna; LBWA0ZZ2DS has an antenna but the structure and component's layout of endproduct will affect radio characteristics. Are antennas different from the source certification or different in structure and layout but covered by derivative certification?

As per the application note, derivative certification saves a lot of man-hours and money, so where possible I would like to be derivative certified.

Best Regards,

Hello @YukioOyama

Only NXP third part module maker like Azurewave, Murata and uBlox did pre-certification. You could contact them about derivative certification things.

Hello Shaun-san,

What you said is that we should contact the module manufacturer because our derivative certification should be based on the source certification obtained by the module manufacturer, not on the source certification obtained by the NXP? Does it match the intention of your answer?
