CW floating license

It appears that if I want to use c++ code, I have to purchase the "Professional" package.  $5K, ouch.

If I do, I am thinking  of using a floating license.  Can someone tell me how it is locked to the server?  Our network is on multiple VLANS with different ethernet macs for each vlan.

Hello Robert, 

You are right, C++ compiler (HCS08/HCS12/CF) is available in the Professional suite only.

You can choose from these options to lock the license:

* Ethernet address

* Solaris HostID 

* Dongle ID  (FlexID  from external USB dongle - Windows only)

* Disc ID (disc volume id - Windows only)

This is my situation:

I like to work on my project at work and at home.  It would be ideal to have a floating license on a server at work and VPN in from home.  Will that work?

That would work. The floating license is going to require that your IT department allow traffic through a specific port and running a daemon program on their server. It really depends upon how well you get along with your IT department.

The USB dongle option would also work. You put the dongle on the USB port of the machine with a copy of CodeWarrior installed on it and the tools work. No need to get the IT department involved.

Either option is fine, it just depends on which is the better choice for your situation.
