Smart Sensor Hubs, extinct so soon?

The most recent NXP Sensor Catalog (SENSSELECT 2017) lists a catagory of sensors under the heading Smart Sensor Hubs.  The two families of sensors listed are FXLC95000CL and MMA955x.  Both of these families which were first released around 2013-14 (given the press releases I could find) are now at end of life.  Are there any other NXP products that offer an accelerometer embedded with a processor?  Are there any competing part families that made this path non-viable for NXP?

Hi Eric,

Unfortunately, the MMA955xL and the FXLC95000 families were the only devices offering an accelerometer embedded with a processor in the NXP portfolio, so, there are no recommended replacements for these intelligent motion sensing platforms.

The recommended replacement for these devices are the stand-alone accelerometers family MMA845x that you can find in the following link: https://www.nxp.com/products/sensors/motion-sensors/accelerometers-for-iot/2g-4g-8g-low-g-14-bit-dig...

One suggestion is to use a low power mcu as a sensor hub (like the kinetis KL0x family) and connect a MMA845x accelerometer, suing this combo, you would get a similar system than the FXLC95000 or the MMA955x.

Have a great day,
Jose
