I2C GPIO: only one input line required

Hi,

I am looking for the simplest sensor ever: read the state of a switch and transalte that into a 0/1 data on an I2C bus using the smallest, simplest and cheapest chip...

You could use the PCA9564, that is a parallel bus to I2C bus controller.
