Hi,

in the Application note AN4399 everything about the accelerometer calibration is very well explained and clear. My problem is that I don't own a tool for imposing to my circuit board some optimal orientations. Is there any product you know on the market (i.e. high precision jig) in order to carry out this calibration on a certain amount of PCBs?

Hello Elisa,

Thank you very much for writing.

In this case I would like to recommend using the Sensor Fusion Library. You may find more information at:

NXP Sensor Fusion

Within the Sensor Fusion Library, you may find advanced functions for computation of device orientation, linear acceleration, gyro offset and magnetic interference based on the outputs of NXP inertial and magnetic sensors.

More specifically, I recommend using the AN5021 Orientation Matrices mentioned on the documentation.

Please let me know if this information helps.

Best Regards,

David

Dear David,

Thank you very much for this information, it is very useful.

I would like to specify that I have a FXOS8700CQ and a FXAS21002C soldered on a PCB and I would like to use this sensors for attitude determination and precise positioning.

I can then calibrate the magnetometer by using the NXP's magnetic compensation software.. but regarding the other sensors I was thinking to re-calibrate the accelerometer (12 parameter calibration model considering also the temperature effect) and the gyro by using a jig/gimball or a precise rotation table before performing the device orientation with the Sensor Fusion Library. I saw that a re-calibration was suggested also in other posts within this forum. Do you have any advice about this strategy? Does it sound reasonable?

Thank you very much in advance for your support,

Elisa
