s32k3xx Safety Manual FCCU assumption

Good morning,
For my project with S32K344, I’m not using the PMIC as recommended.
In the safety manual, I couldn’t clearly understand whether the EOUT pins must be used for the FCCU in an ASIL B application, because in the PMIC (FS26) manual, it is optional for ASIL B, but in the S32xx safety manual, it seems to be an assumption.
Do I have to use the EOUT pins to an hardware solution, or can I rely solely on a software solution?

Hello,
Do I have to use the EOUT pins to an hardware solution, or can I rely solely on a software solution?
Safety manual is only recommendation and not mandatory. It is only one way how to reach ASIL-D class.
There could be multiple ways, therefore for any safety implementation always first check the target safety standard (ASIL-B) in this case and what is explicitly required there.
EOUT pins no need to be used for correct device operation. However if your target safety standard required signaling of faults to some external component (micro/SBC, etc...) then you will use them for such purpose.
In summary, it is always best to consult unclear requirements with your safety certification company as they will give final approval.
Following strictly safety manual will lead to comply with ASIL-D.
Best regards,
Peter
