SDK to RTD migration

We have been using the NXP SDK (RTM 3.0.2) in our earlier software implementation. However, in our current development, we have transitioned to RTD (NXP RTD AUTOSAR 4.7. Build version: S32K1_RTD_2_0_0_D2308_ASR_REL_4_7_REV_0000_20230804) as part of the software update.

We would like to understand the key reasons behind the transition to RTD. Specifically, we would appreciate insights on:

Justification for Switching to RTD
Is there any specific technical or strategic reason why RTD is now preferred over SDK?
Are there any long-term support or compatibility benefits that RTD offers over SDK?
Major Differences Between RTD and SDK
Could you provide a comparison of the architectural and functional differences between RTD and SDK?
Are there any performance, memory, or flexibility improvements with RTD?
Safety-Related Certifications
Does RTD include any functional safety (ISO 26262) or other safety-related certifications that were not available in SDK?
If yes, could you provide more details on the safety enhancements in RTD?

And we're using S32K148 controller for our development

Hi Petrs, Thank you so much for the reply

I don't need the migration guide, I need to know the difference between the RTD and SDK and also need to know, there any specific technical or strategic reason why RTD is now preferred over SDK? & Does RTD include any functional safety (ISO 26262) or other safety-related certifications that were not available in SDK?
If yes, could you provide more details on the safety enhancements in RTD?

Hi,

SDK is marked as legacy SW, there is no upgraded support and maintenance.
RTD stays free of charge and provides support and maintenance. RTD is safety compliant as per ISO 26262, combines AUTOSAR and Non-AUTOSAR environment in one software product. It allows flexibility to migrate to other S32 platform.
The AN, I mentioned, gave you basic description of the difference between SDK and RTD.

In terms of Safety SW, there is SPD package for S32K1:
https://www.nxp.com/webapp/swlicensing/sso/downloadSoftware.sp?catid=SW32K1-SPD-D. Please notice that SPD requires specific RTD package. It’s mentioned in the release notes file.
There are no license fees for SPD.

If you are interested in Structural Core Self-Test (SCST), this is licensed premium software. Please contact your local NXP sales office for details about the pricing and ordering.

These details can be found on this page:
https://www.nxp.com/products/processors-and-microcontrollers/s32-automotive-platform/s32k-auto-gener...
Just go to Product Details -> Software Enablement.

BR, Petr
