Hello everyone,
I’m currently working with the S32K144EVB and have been reviewing the power supply section of the datasheet. However, I’m a bit confused about the power supply system and how to properly configure it. Could someone tell if it is possible to use two different power sources to enable CAN communication and USB (connected to a PC for FreeMASTER debugging) at the same time? If so, specifically:
1. If I keep J107 in the 1-2 position (P5V_SBC = P5V0), can I independently connect USB for FreeMASTER debugging without any power conflicts?
2. Alternatively, can I set J107 to 2-3 (P5V_SDA_PSW = P5V0) and use the external power source of 12V to supply only the UJA1169, while the rest of the system is supplied through P5V_SDA_PSW = P5V0 to enable USB debugging using FreeMASTER?
Hi,
Thank you so much for your interest in our products and for using our community.
To power the SBC, connect an external 12V supply to the EVB and connect pins 1-2 on jumper J107. At the same time, a USB cable can still be connected to the EVB to allow debugging using FreeMASTER.
Hope it helps you.
Have a nice day!
Hi @_Leo_, thanks a lot!!
Can you confirm if it’s safe to supply pin 2 (P5V0) directly with an external 5V source, bypassing pins 1 and 3 (P5V_SBC and P5V_SDA_PSW), and at the same time use 12V to supply CAN physical layer and debug using FreeMASTER via USB?
