Troubleshoot the GoldVIP setup on the S32G-VNP-RDB3 demo board

Hi NXP,

We are setting up the GOLDVIP development environment. We set up the GoldVIP Yocto project in accordance with Section 25 of document GoldVIP-S32G3-1.12.0-user-manual.pdf. We could not find the HSE firmware release. Can you tell me what to do?

1. We installed HSE-FW_S32G3XX_0_2_22_0.exe in windows and packaged the installation directory under ubuntu20.04 linux.

2. Configure local.conf:

3. bitbake fsl-image-goldvip

Thanks for your post.

I suggest modify the local.conf with the following line:

NXP_FIRMWARE_LOCAL_DIR = "/home/workspace/S32G"

You may edit it and retry the Yocto building.

No errors are reported after I configure NXP_FIRMWARE_LOCAL_DIR according to your suggestions. I have a new problem. I can't seem to get xml-commons-resolver1.1-native-1.2-r1, xalan-j-native-2.7.1-r2, and avalon-framework-api-native-4.3-r1.

These missing files can be downloaded through the Web Archive or through mirrors.

• avalon-framework-api: link

As you may need a VPN for downloading these files, I attached them to the reply.

Once downloaded, place them in your Downloads folder.

The error that you are seeing refer to the following Yocto recipe:

More specifically, to this part:

    skopeo --override-arch arm64 copy --additional-tag="docker.io/${PAUSE_CONTAINER_TAG}" \
        docker://${PAUSE_CONTAINER_TAG} docker-archive:${WORKDIR}/pause-container.tar
}

It is attempting to use the Skopeo tool for copying the Docker image rancher/mirrored-pause:3.6. However, the address https://registry-1.docker.io/v2/ is blocked in China.

If you have the option of using a VPN to fetch this file, this would be the easiest approach.

I will take a look and see if there is a way to manually bypass this step. If I find something, I will give you a feedback.

For being able to successfully downloading the Docker image without using VPN, please update the Yocto recipe

meta-gvip/recipes-containers/k3s/k3s_%.bbappend

By replacing lines 44 and 45 by:

skopeo --override-arch arm64 copy --additional-tag="docker.io/${PAUSE_CONTAINER_TAG}" \
        docker://dockerpull.org/${PAUSE_CONTAINER_TAG} docker-archive:${WORKDIR}/pause-container.tar

This should tell skopeo to use a Docker Registry mirror (dockerpull.org) instead of the default option. This should do the trick.
