HI sir.

I am using the S32G-VNP-RDB3 board. I use the yocto bitbake the BSP42.0(fsl-image-auto).and boot up form SD card.

I want to use the 100BASE-T1 in the 100BASE-T1(MOLEX MINI 50 J53).

Could you help to tell me the next actions of how to enable 100BASE-T1 SJA1110 Port: P10(100BASE-T1)?

thank you.

Next is bootup logs.

Hi, @Wzlinux

I suggest removing all your modifications to the conf/local.conf, then add the following two line only:(copy and paste them into your configuration file)

DISTRO_FEATURES:append = " pfe"

NXP_FIRMWARE_LOCAL_DIR = "/home/bin/fsl-auto-yocto-bsp/sources/meta-alb/meta-alb-bsp/recipes-kernel/pfe/pfe"

After it,  execute the following command to rebuild with the following command:

bitbake fsl-image-auto -c clean && bitbake fsl-image-auto

Hello, @Wzlinux

I suggest removing the following two lines:

DISTRO_FEATURES:append = "pfe pfe-slave"
NXP_FIRMWARE_LOCAL_DIR = "/home/bin/fsl-auto-yocto-bsp/sources/meta-alb/meta-alb-bsp/recipes-kernel/pfe/pfe/"

Then rebuild the Yocto images to have a try

HI @chenyin_h
Thank you.
I removed follow two line.
DISTRO_FEATURES:append = "pfe pfe-slave"
NXP_FIRMWARE_LOCAL_DIR = "/home/bin/fsl-auto-yocto-bsp/sources/meta-alb/meta-alb-bsp/recipes-kernel/pfe/pfe/"
only keep:
DISTRO_FEATURES:append = "pfe"
NXP_FIRMWARE_LOCAL_DIR = "/home/bin/fsl-auto-yocto-bsp/sources/meta-alb/meta-alb-bsp/recipes-kernel/pfe/pfe/"
use the bitbake fsl-image-auto
burned the fsl-image-auto-s32g399ardb3.sdcard to SD card.
the /lib/firmware is empty.
the follow is /lib/modules/
root@s32g399ardb3:/lib/firmware# ls
root@s32g399ardb3:/lib/firmware# cd ../

root@s32g399ardb3:/lib/modules/6.6.32-rt32-g49d9f8bb25e0-dirty# ls
mdio-proxy.ko modules.alias.bin modules.builtin.alias.bin modules.builtin.modinfo modules.dep.bin modules.order modules.symbols updates
modules.alias modules.builtin modules.builtin.bin modules.dep modules.devname modules.softdep modules.symbols.bin

Hello, @Wzlinux

It is strange that there is no pfeng.ko under your directory, not sure if you set "pfe-slave " during the Yocto building, I had a test and the pfeng.ko could be found from my following directory:

/lib/modules/6.6.32-rt32-00903-g49d9f8bb25e0/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/nxp/pfe/pfeng.ko

Would you please help to double check your Yocto building settings?

Besides, if you want to manually build the PFE Linux driver, then 1.7 version is required for BSP42, it could be built following the same way for building Linux modules.

Hi, @Wzlinux

Thanks for your reply.

From the log, the PFE FW seems integrated fine, but the PFE Linux driver is not seen initialized, I suggest checking it under your /lib/modules/, and try loading the PFE driver manually.

HI @chenyin_h
Thank you.
I have downloaded the PFE_Driver_1_5_0.zip Could you help to tell me how to build this Driver? how to loading the PFE dirver(which file)?

Hello, @Wzlinux

From my opinion.

1. I suggest using the PFE1.8 FW as described in the BSP42.0 release notes.

2. In your conf/local.conf, seems you are using DISTRO_FEATURES_append += " pfe", instead, I suggest using DISTRO_FEATURES:append = " pfe".

Hello, @Wzlinux

The PFE FW could be downloaded from the the following link:

https://www.nxp.com/app-autopackagemgr/automotive-software-package-manager:AUTO-SW-PACKAGE-MANAGER

Hello, @Wzlinux

From the command you used to generate the image, it does not include the PFE support, I suggest reading the chapter 7.3.4 of BSP UM for details:

chenyin_h_0-1735028981521.png

Also, thanks for @jiajun_cheng 's input

in the PFE_Firmware_1_10_0 folder there are s32g_pfe_class.fw s32g_pfe_util.fw file.

But when i carry the bitbake fsl-image-auto command. there are errors .

Hello, @Wzlinux

The 100baseT1 port is on the sja1110, which is connected to the PFE_MAC0 by default.

Firstly, you may add the PFE support to the image built(the pre-built images could include the PFE support by default), after entering the Linux shell, you may see the pfeX ports by ifconfig -a.

Then, you could try pinging PFE0 via 100base-T1 port.(assume that this port is directly connected to your testing devices like a host)

hi @chenyin_h
Thanks.
the follow is ifconfig -a result. There is no PFE information. Could you help to tell me why? i used the follow bitbake the build.
1. $ . nxp-setup-alb.sh -m s32g399ardb3
2.bitbake fsl-image-auto
3.sudo dd if=<image-name>.sdcard of=/dev/sd<partition> bs=1M && sync

Hello, @Wzlinux

Thanks for your post.

On RDB3, there are J53 Mini 50 connector and a harness cable for 100-Base-T1. you may connect the cable to your testing devices to test it.

If you do not have specific devices to connect to the cable, I suggest buying a RJ45-100BASET1 converter to have it tested.

Hi @chenyin_h
Thank you for your reply.
Yes , I can connect the 100-base-T1 from the 50 connector.

My question is how could I enable the 100-base-T1 port from SW?
is it default enable (for example: SJA1110 P10 100-BASE-T1)after i burned the BSP42.0 to SD card and boot up from SD card?
from the Ethernet-enable guide i learned that 100-base-T1 is controlled by SJA1110, should I enable SJA1110 first? whether those is enable default(BSP42.0 fsl-image-auto )?
