Generate a new DDR firmware for customer board based RDB3 board by DDR TOOL in S32DS v3.6.1

I am working on a ddr firmware issue for a board based on RDB3, and I installed S32DS v3.6.1, but I did not find the file or referrences to generate ddr firmware by DDR tool in S32DS.

Would you please help to tell and give me the resources and steps to build the ddr firmware.

1. May I know if the DDR source code for the custom board you mentioned are from DDR tools? so for BSP43 and BSP44 build, the DDR source code itself would be the same?

2. So the DDR source code could be integrated/built successfully with BSP43 code base, and boot the custom board well; But when integrated/built with BSP44, the custom board failed to boot?

3. Sorry that I do not find detailed reference resource for the ddr part update, If there are any specific information details during integration/building/booting, also thanks for sharing more information on them

Thanks for your reply.

The customer DDR codes are not from DDR tools, they are specific and from customer.

And yes, the DDR source code could be integrated/built successfully with BSP43 code base, and boot the custom board well; But when integrated/built with BSP44, the custom board failed to boot, due to the commits for DDR driver.

I will continue to find the way to make it work again based on BSP44.

Thanks for your post.

1. From BSP44, the DDR configuration has been modularized, this is a new change introduced

2. The DDR firmware binaries currently are provided within the BSP download page from your account, it is only used for NXP reference board.

3.  For custom boards, the recommended approach remains integration via the CUSTOM_DDR_DRV compile-time variable, the corresponding sources could be generated from the source.

Currently, I do not see any requirements that need to build DDR firmware from users instead of obtaining them from NXP, since they are only used for NXP reference boards, may I know the reason(background) that you need to generate your own DDR firmware for using them on NXP reference board?

Sorry for late reply and Thanks for your explaination.

Yes, I noticed the DDR configuration changes in BSP44, and I tried to build the customer board ddr via the CUSTOM_DDR_DRV compile-time variable, the build passed, but the board boots failed. And I also tried to use the image output via the CUSTOM_DDR_DRV compile-time variable based on BSP43 release codes, which boots up normally.

I checked the atf codes in BSP44, there are many commits related with DDR changes, given these changes, the custom board ddr codes should be updated accordingly, I am working on it.

So it is very helpful if you can give some advices for ddr codes changes to compatible with BSP44 release.
