Special conversion in ADC12B16CV1

Hi,

I am using ADC12B16CV1 in MC9S12XE microntroller family in features of ADC the following feature is present

 

I didn't understand this feature and don't know how to use it. Can someone explain  me? 

how this feature helps me in development and how to use this feature.

I have "a few" application guys whether they used this feature any time and whether they have different opinion from the opinion of mine.

No, there was only one. VRH and VRL and (VRH+VRL)/2 provides 3 references which provides you to check whether ADC is OK. Now I expect update update, and what to do if there are different values from expected... Really there is no answer.

It is possible that there is some exact reason, probably some important customer inserted this feature during design of the MCU for his specific purpose.

I am sorry, I was not able to get more info.
