Locking/unlocking car door via relay locking or LIN?

I was thinking of locking/unlocking a car door by driving the central locking relay via an MCU. Are S12ZVL products better suited for interacting with car door locking/unlocking mechanism ?

Thanks,

Gun

Hi Gun,

Yes, you may use S12ZVL for such job.

However, I would like to recommend also consider S12VR (or potentially MM912G634) MCU.

The S12VR contains 2 low side drivers for direct relay driving (inductive load drivers).

If you don’t need a highly integrated solution, you may also use general purpose MCU like S12G (or some of S08 MCUs) and external analog solution (LDO regulator, LIN PHY, relay driver).

I hope it helps you.

Have a great day,
Radek
