The P&E Multilink debugger (red one) has become obsolete and the new ones don't work such as USB Multilink Universal or Universal FX? has anyone encountered this and resolved it?
Hi William,
Personally I use CW5.1 under Win7 64bit.
However:
1. USB Multilink Universal should works fine with CW5.1 (it just need update firmware by PEFirmwareUpdater.exe) and it is recommended replacement for USB Multilink.
2. Universal FX is not officially supported for CW5.1. However few years ago I received unofficial drivers for CW5.1 from PEmicro. If you already have Universal FX, you could contact PEmicro support with such request.
3. USB Multilink (red one, Rev.C) is not supported by PE drivers under Win10 (I am not sure now with Win8). USB Multilink works fine under Win7.
Examples of other BDM interfaces:
OSBDM and USBDM should works fine with newest drivers (we do not know about any issue).
TBDML don’t have drivers for 64bit operating systems.
SofTec drivers don’t work under Vista and newer systems.
Author of TBDML and Softec interfaces terminated cooperation with NXP (Freescale) and henceforth they did not support these products.
BTW: There is CW5.2 which was updated for run under CW10. Unfortunately only some of S12(X) derivatives are supported by this version of CW.
I hope it helps you.
Have a great day,
RadekS
