Hello,
we have a question regarding the tracing possibilities of the T1024 with a Lauterbach PowerTrace Serial 2. As far as we know it should be possible to realize off-Chip tracing via the Aurora interface.
Unfortunatly, due to design requirements the Aurora interface is not available for us. But one of the three PCIe is. Is it possible to achive off-Chip Tracing via one of the PCIe?
The Lauterbach PowerTrace 2 Serial supports tracing via PCIe.
Additionally we have some questions regarding On-Chip Tracing with the NXP T1024.
Can you confirm, that on-chip tracing is possible with the T1024?
How much on-chip storage for tracing data does the T1024 provide?
Does the on-chip tracing influence the execution time and if so, how much?
T1024 supports on-chip tracing. There is no dedicated trace memory. Instead, the T1024 will trace to DDR memory. So the size of the trace buffer is only limited by the amout of DDR memory on the target board, and the amount of DDR memory not required by the application. The target application has to ensure that a certain memory is reserved for trace and not used by the aplicaiton itself.
As the trace data is stored to DDR memory, it will require a certain memory bandwidth. So in fact tracing to DDR memory may slow down program execution. The impact on application speed depends on the overall bandwidth, the amound of generated trace data, as well as the bandwidth required by the target application
Best regards,
Reinhard
Thank you for your answer. It`s good to know that the T1024 doesn`t have any internal memory for On-Chip tracing.
Thanks.
Waiting for the design team.
Please ask Lauterbach if this is enabled in their tool.
