Using SBC From KITFS27-24VEVM On Custom Board

Hello,

Since sample pieces for the FS27 SBC are still hard to come by, and we have a KITFS27-24VEVM eval board on-hand we were considering de-soldering the chip from our eval board to place on our custom PCB that's using the FS27.

It appears that the part on the eval board is a non-manufactured part, so we were wondering if it might not be able to operate normally once it's placed on our board. I was also curious if we would need to do any specific configuration in the NXP GUI program to make sure it will work once on our board. Is there any guidance you can provide about something like this? Thank you!

Hi Aculver,

the desoldered FS27 should work correctly, however I wouldn't recommend this. Please rather contact our authorized distributors from your area for FS27 samples. Please see this link for a list of our authorized distributors.

Yes this wasn't our first choice either, I'm contracting with a small company to do the firmware for a project while my friend does the EE work. The company had checked on getting samples and it sounded like there was going to be a wait. Now, before any more work could be done the company needs to raise some funding. So we're kind of working with what we have until the funding is secured and an order for samples can be placed.

Since the custom PCB this chip will go onto is going to be a board for development, is there any configuration of the FS27 that I should do before it comes off the eval board?

Hi Aculver,

this not a usual request, so I need to contact an application team. I have checked the KITFS27-24VEVM Schematic, to check if I can find out what FS27 OTP version is populated. It looks there is "empty" FS27 populated, then OTP programmed by our application team. So I cannot read which FS27 OTP version is there.
