Hello,

1.    The 4 MOSFETs that still need to be added, should they be 4 n-MOSFETs, or should it be a combination of 2 n-MOSFETs and 2 p-MOSFETs? My intuition tells me that they should all be n-MOSFETs, but why is this the case?
4 MOSFETs are n type which has lower Rdson (lower power loss) than p type in general.

2.    If I use this active full-bridge rectifier with a filter capacitor as indicated in all the figures in the datasheet/demo board files, and if I have a resistive load of around 35 Ohms that serves as a heater (with a relatively large mass, making it slow to respond to changes in power), can this TEA2209T be used without a PFC circuit between it and the load still functioning optimally?
For a resistor heater, TEA2209T is not needed + not cost effective. You can tie the resistor directly to the AC line to generate heat, but it’ll varies at different AC line voltages, i.e. at 90Vac, heat/loss=90*90/35=231(W); at 264Vac, heat/loss=264*264/35=1991(W)…
