Hello,

We are making customized boards using i.MX8MQ.

In the process of purchasing a part, the MC34PF4210A1ES is out of stock and we are looking for a replacement part.

Can you suggest a replacement for PMIC for I.MX8MQ?

Please reply.

Posting as a main topic line as reply not addressed.

RE substitute parts for PF4210:  Scouring the two datasheets for the PF0100 and the PF4210, I am concerned that we use an IMX8MQ with LPDDR4.  The PF0100 SW2 Supplies claim they can match the 2500mA of the PF4210 if using the industrial rated part.  The SW3A/B supplies of the PF0100 are rated 500 mA less than the PF4210.  Is the output actually better than the rating or did the PF4210 beef up that drive for the IMX8 parts to use LPDDR4?  Besides the current difference can it hand the dynamic demands and speeds in the control logic of the PF0100 vs the PF4210 for LPDDR4?  I am concerned that using a PF0100 for our use may not work as suggested.

Will a MMPF0100NPANES  (after programming with the proper use case) work to replace the MC34PF4210A1ES for an i.MX8MQ using LPDDR4 DRAM?

Is there any NXP update as to product availability of MC34PF4210A1ES?  We have several different batches ordered from several authorized NXP distributors.  Some are promised 1/2022, some 5/2022, and more 6/2022, and 8/2022.  Is there any way to determine if the PMIC's are being manufactured so as to be available those dates?

Thank you very much for answering.

However, MMPF0100NPANES is also out of stock.
Can you recommend a PMIC for i.MX8MQ that is in stock?

Hi,

In this case I would recommend you to use the MMPF0100NPAES PMIC as a replacement for the MC34PF4210A1ES. MMPF0100 family is pin-to-pin compatible with the PF4210 family.

Just take in mind that for the MMPF0100 PMIC, there is no OTP pre-programed option with the same configuration as the MC34PF4210A1ES, reason of why I recommended the no-programmed option of the MMPF0100, but you can load the MC34PF4210A1ES OTP configuration (attached) into this un-programmed PMIC.

Information about how to do this programming can be found in the following link: https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/application-note/AN4536.pdf

Jose

Hi,

I can recommend you the MMPF0100NPAEP or the MMPF0100NPAZES, however, I think these are also out of stock caused by the global semiconductor shortage.

My recommendation is to contact your local NXP Authorized Distributor from the following page and check directly with them the availability and lead times in you zone.

Even some distributors can program the un-programmed parts for a cost.

If you are currently not working with an NXP Authorized Distributor, I recommend you to contact them directly for details: http://www.nxp.com/support/sample-buy/distributor-network:DISTRIBUTORS

Jose
