How many devices can be handled by PCI express controller of p2041

P2041 is having 3 PCI express controller

I am using PEX2 (PCI Express Controller 2)

Is there any limit of number of PCI devices that can be connected to PCI Express controller

or we can connect any number of devices using switches and bridges

According to the PCI Express Specification a device's location for a PCIe controller is specified by an 8-bit bus number, a 5-bit device number and a 3-bit function number.

As per P2041 reference manual (Table 24.1 and Table 24.3)

PEX2(PCI express controller )

INTA has got Interrupt number 25

INTB has IRQ5,

INTC has IRQ6

INTD has IRQ7

So does that mean it can support only 4 pci devices ?

PCIe devices use MSI interrupts.
