Hello,
We are designing a new product that will have a USB mini B type connector on the front panel for customer interface. This product will be installed in harsh environments during which it may get in contact with water. We want to protect this against water so we have designed in some physical features that will protect it against water. When we did our failure analysis it told us that our design might fail if customer fails to install the feature that we provided to protect USB.
Therefore, I am looking for solutions in terms of electrically protecting (from short circuiting) USB against contact with water. If anyone has some suggestions please let me know.
