I work in the movie industry and we have several Vitec (Anton Bauer) VCLX battery chargers that have the removable NXP P87C552SBAA processor in them. I have been in touch with the manufacturer of the chargers and the replacement processors are no longer available unfortunately. The newer revision chargers have different processors in them (smaller form factor and surface mount).
Some of the chips have become corrupt in the chargers (power spikes etc on the camera trucks) , and instead of throwing out the complete board I wanted to copy the code from a good chip and rescue the bad ones. Swapping in a good processor into the bad chargers makes them work again.
This will allow us to salvage all of the chargers we have and save them from the recycling pile. It's a pretty common fault and this will allows me to repair a bunch of chargers we have and also other people I know have the same problem.
These are the markings on the processor P87C552SBAA CDD183 01 TuD1345A
So in summary I'm looking for a way to read and write out the code on these chips to save otherwise good charger boards. Is this possible ? Or are they a write once deal ?
