Hi NXP Team,

I want to design Isolated AC to DC converter for below requirement

Vin - AC supply

Vout - 12V @ 200W and 5V @ 12.5W with OVP, UVP, OCP, SCP, OTP

Efficiency > 90%

Regulation 5%

If you have existing solution Please provide and suggest.

Thanks

Hi Arvind,

I want to design Isolated AC to DC converter for below requirementVin - AC supplyVout - 12V @ 200W

[A] Depending if you need PFC+LLC combo or only LLC controller we can offer you TEA2017 PFC+LLC controller (Please refer to UM11397 for 12V/20A 240W EVB) or our latest TEA2226 LLC controller. If you need a PFC controller to the TEA2226 LLC controller, we can offer you TEA2376 interleaved PFC controller. Unfortunately currently there are no EVBs for the TEA2226, but there is TEA2376DB1602 300W PFC Demo Board

For the above mentioned we have Design Tools

Or if you prefer flyback topology, we have TEA175x flyback controllers for SMPS up to 250W.

5V @ 12.5W with OVP, UVP, OCP, SCP, OTP Efficiency > 90%Regulation 5%If you have existing solution Please provide and suggest.

[A] For this lower power application, we have TEA173x flyback controller, for power up to 75W.

For the EVB examples, please refer to the link above, to the Documentation section.

Jozef

Hi Jozef,

I have seen one of your design document "UM11553", like that only I want to implement 5V and 12V output from same transformer, 12V will be main secondary output and 5V will auxiliary secondary output. Is it possible for my case?

If Yes, Please suggest changes to be made in UM11553 design.

Thanks,

Arvind

Hi Arvind,

please see below an answer and suggestions from an application engineer dealing with our SMPS controllers, I have contacted.

DESCRIPTION

Output regulation for 2 output voltages is similar.

UM11553 shows the principle for a LLC converter with 2 output voltages and a combined regulation.

The same principle can be used for combining a 12V and 5V output. It is important to select a suitable voltage per turn on the output to fit to the required output voltage. With this combination that could be 2.5V per turn: 2 turns for 5V and 5 turns for 12V (theoretically resulting in 12.5V). Some fine-tuning of the output resistor divider for regulation can show the best compromise/performance for output voltage levels at different current load conditions.

A second option is to make a single output 12V/18A LLC converter and add a (small) DC-DC converter for the 5V/2.5A output. This is a more straightforward setup with better accuracy but maybe some extra cost.

We do not have a demo board example that shows the PFC+LLC combination of 12V output and a (low power) 5V output.

With Best Regards,

Jozef

Hi Jozef,

Please suggest the some transformer for our use for two output supply.

Or If you any Transformer Design tool for my application, Please provide.

Hi Arvind,

you can use the magnetic implementation sheet from the LLC Resonant Converter Design Tool. I would recommend you to use the tool with 212.5W and with the 12V and with the 5V output. This way the tool will calculate for you the number of threads for secondary winding, for the 12V and 5V. Later adjust the secondary winding for two windings for the 200W/12V and 12.5W/5V outputs (lower current=>thinner wires so the core size should be sufficient, or you might need to increase the core size). Number of threads should stay the same. You can use the recommended Core shape, depending which will the tool recommend you. Unfortunately we do not have any tool for the dual output. I apologize for inconvenience.

Please do not take the above as tested, the application team haven't tested it.

Or please consider to order the transformer deign to an external company. E.g. https://www.itacoilweb.com/transformers-for-your-specific-needs/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAtYy9BhBc...

Jozef

Hi,

Under ordering information of TEA2017 only TEA2017AAT/2 is mentioned and if I am downloading eCad symbol there you are having more than 5 variant, which variant should we use?

Thanks.

Hi Arvind,

for the TEA2017AAT please download the TEA2017AAT/1Y. The TEA2017AAT/2Y footprint looks a bit different then the first mentioned footprint. If compared with the TEA2017AAT package outline in the TEA2017AAT/2 datasheet the first mentioned is the correct footprint. The /1Y and /2Y in the eCAD have nothing to do with function of the TEA2017. These suffixes are for marketing differentiation, e.g. how are the components delivered to our customers. Regarding the TEA2017AAT/2 and TEA2017AAT/3, there is a difference in function. Please refer to the .pptx attached. But the symbol, footprint and 3D model for both is the same.
