Dealing with Thermal Pad of PCAL6524HEAZ

Dear an Engineer in NXP

I have one question about the Thermal Pad of PCAL6524HEAZ.
I checked the comment that the Thermal Pad is not connected to internal chip directly.

Is it NOT necessary to connect to GND pattern on PCB with the Thermal Pad?

Dear Eduard,

you are correct. The thermal pad underneath the PCAL6524HEAZ is not internally connected to any pin. It can be left floating, but for better thermal performance it is recommended to connect it to the GND.
